Have you been maintaining a healthy diet and kept a consistent exercise routine, but still not seeing the results you want? Well, we’ve got 3 great options to finally reach your desired results. Whether you’re looking to target stubborn areas like the lower abdomen, love handles, under arm, chin, or more - we can help!
At Wilmington Plastic Surgery we offer both tradition Liposuction and the latest in non-invasive options and we’d love to help you find the best option for you. Today we’re talking about Liposuction and CoolSculpt — Take a look below for to learn more about the procedure, recovery time, and expected results for each option.
Heredity and genetics plays a roll in a person’s shape and how their body stores fat. Traditional Liposuction is the most effective procedure to remove larger localized fat deposits and because you’re not limited to a machine, we’re able to target the fat in any desired area.
This procedure is surgical and uses local anesthesia to remove pockets of fat, eliminating the need for general anesthesia, intravenous narcotics and sedatives, and it minimizes blood loss.
Recovery + Results — Traditional Liposuction requires just one operation, but has the longest recovery time requiring about 4-5 days of rest post-op and a 4-6 week transition period before you can get back to your full exercise routine.
This option is less invasive than traditional Liposuction and requires less downtime. This procedure uses an internal laser to melt fat cells along with liposuction, it also stimulates collagen production to help tighten the skin and boost elasticity which aids in recovery time and results.
Recovery + Results — This procedure requires one operation and little downtime. We typically suggest one to two days of rest and to wait 2 weeks before resuming exercise. Results will start to show within one week of recovery and the treated area will continue to improve over the following 3-6 months.
CoolSculpting is a non-invasive, non-sugrical treatment that targets common areas of stubborn fat. This treatment is FDA approved and nearly pain free for all patients.
The Coolsculpting machine uses a unique applicator that is applied to the problem area and uses a technique that freezes fat cells and makes them melt away. You can use this treatment on the thighs, arms, lower belly or hard to reach places like the lower chin.
Recovery + Results — This procedure generally requires 1-3 rounds to reach optimal results. Patients typically have little to no recovery period, typically only experiencing tingling, redness, or inflammation in the few days post-treatment. Because fat isn’t being removed, but rather frozen - it takes about 3 weeks to begin seeing the results as the frozen fat cells begin to melt off. The most dramatic results will occur in the 2-4 months after treatment.
Remember, none of these procedures are a miracle cure — They can help get you where you want to be, but in order to maintain these results - you’ll need to begin or continue a consistent exercise plan and healthy diet.
